Plano man sentenced to 21-plus years for sharing child pornography online

A Plano man will spend more than 21 years behind bars after he admitted he shared numerous child pornography images online.

Edgar Raymond Miller, 38, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of distribution of child pornography. A federal judge sentenced him Monday to 262 months in prison.

Plano police received a tip in April 2020 about child porn shared online and traced the person who uploaded the images to Miller’s home. When authorities searched devices seized from the home, they reported finding a collection of more than 47,000 files of child porn, as well as messages in which Miller discussed the abuse of children.

Miller admitted that he had traded such files with other people online, including images that depicted sadistic abuse. As part of his plea agreement, officials dismissed two additional counts of distribution of child pornography.

Nicholas J. Ganjei, acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, said law enforcement officials rely on tips to find people who distribute child pornography and urged people to report any concerning activity they see online.

“Your tip could prevent a child from being abused or exploited,” Ganjei said in a written statement.
