Woman pointed gun at man whose dog did its business near her apartment, Dallas police say

A Dallas woman pulled a gun on a man whose dog did its business near her apartment balcony, police say.

Keturah Baht Jenkins, 44, was arrested Sunday on one count of aggravated assault and has since been released on bond from the Dallas County jail. She did not have an attorney listed in court records.

Police were called about 5 p.m. Sunday to the Ridge Parc apartments in the 6900 block of Clarkridge Drive, near Clark and West Camp Wisdom roads in the Mountain Creek area.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, officers spoke to a 19-year-old man who said he had been walking his dog when Jenkins, his neighbor, came outside and confronted him about the dog urinating and defecating near her balcony.

The man told police that while they were arguing, Jenkins went inside her apartment and then returned with a handgun. She turned on the gun’s laser sight, pointed it at him and his dog and said she’d shoot them both, the affidavit says.

The man said he dared her to shoot him and then went back to his apartment and called police, according to the affidavit.

Jenkins told the officers that she had an ongoing dispute with her neighbor about the dog, whose name police did not include in their report. She said she grabbed the gun and pointed it at the man because she felt threatened, the affidavit says.

Police said Jenkins retrieved the handgun, which she was licensed to carry, and handed it over to them, and they noted that it was unloaded. They also seized a magazine that contained 14 round
