Scattered downpours this weekend as Ida tracks to our east

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Deep moisture is moving from Louisiana toward Texas ahead of Ida, and that will bring widely scattered downpours to Southeast Texas Saturday morning and afternoon. Because of the widespread storms and clouds, high temperatures will only peak in the low 90s.

It won’t rain all day, but you’ve got a 70% chance of crossing paths with a shower or thunderstorm, especially in our coastal counties.

Any chance Ida comes this way?
No. We have high confidence Ida will make landfall somewhere in Louisiana late Sunday. With us on the so-called “clean side” of the storm, we will have little, if any, impacts. We do expect an increased risk of rip currents and bigger waves to reach our coastline on Sunday.

Now that Ida is going to miss us, how does next week look?
We’re expecting just enough moisture to be left over for scattered thunderstorms to form. It’ll stay hot as well. You can keep up with the tropics with our daily tropical update.
