Hurricane Nicholas: Houston-area roads with high water reported ahead of landfall

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Keep an eye on high-water locations on Houston-area roads and other trouble spots for drivers, as Hurricane Nicholas’ impacts are felt.

Remember, if you come across high water, don’t attempt to drive through it. Turn around, don’t drown.

All METRO service remains suspended for now due to hazardous weather across the region due to Nicholas. METRO says it will resume METRORail, local bus service, and METROLift when it is safe to do so.

The following high water locations are being reported by Houston Transtar or local authorities:

  • FM-521 Southbound At BRAZOS RIVER – Frontage Road U-turn
  • FM-521 Northbound At BRAZOS RIVER – Frontage Road U-turn
  • SH 275 / HARBORSIDE Eastbound At IH 45 Gulf Freeway to 51ST (PELICAN ISLAND CAUSEWAY) – 1 Mainlane
  • SH-87/ Broadway Northbound At 45TH ST to 49TH ST – 3 Mainlanes
  • SH 275 / HARBORSIDE Westbound At 51ST (PELICAN ISLAND CAUSEWAY) to IH 45 Gulf Freeway – All Mainlanes
  • SH 275 / HARBORSIDE Westbound At 20TH ST to 14th St/ Christopher Columbus Blvd – 2 Mainlanes
  • SH 275 / HARBORSIDE Eastbound At 14th St/ Christopher Columbus Blvd to 20TH ST – 2 Mainlanes
  • SH-87/ Broadway Northbound Between GALVESTON-BOLIVAR FERRY to BOLIVAR-GALVESTON FERRY – All Mainlanes
  • SH-87/ Broadway Southbound Between BOLIVAR-GALVESTON FERRY to GALVESTON-BOLIVAR FERRY – All Mainlanes
  • IH-45 Northbound At VAUTHIER ST to FM-1765/TEXAS AVE. – 2 Frontage Lanes
  • IH-45 Northbound At HOLLAND to FM-518 – 3 Frontage Lanes
  • IH-45 Northbound At HOLLAND to FM-517 – 3 Frontage Lanes
  • IH-45 Northbound At SH 96/CALDER/BRITTANY BAY to FM-518 – 1 Frontage Lanes
