Nicholas moves away from Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Now that Nicholas is a tropical depression and moving away, we can expect improving weather for the rest of the work week.

Temperatures will hold steady in the 70s overnight with times of light rain and mist under a mainly cloudy sky. Most of us will still be under the cloud shield of Nicholas Wednesday afternoon, bringing more clouds than sun to fill the sky. There will be an occasional light showers, bust most will stay dry.

Temperatures where it stays fairly cloudy will warm into the middle and upper 80s. Where the sunshine becomes more abundant west of Houston, temperatures will climb into the 90s.

What can we expect for the rest of the week?
Thursday should stay dry, and with more sunshine and a northeast breeze, temperatures will warm into the low 90s. Friday will be just as hot but with slightly higher humidity as the Gulf breeze returns.

How is the weekend shaping up?
Gulf moisture picks up a notch Saturday and Sunday, so we have low rain chances back in the forecast. With the added clouds and moisture, temperatures will peak in the upper 80s and low 90s.

Is there anything else of concern in the tropics?
There are two tropical systems with a high chance for development over the next 5 days, but neither is a concern to Texas at this time. You can get a full overview of the tropics on our tropical update page.
