14-year-old boy in custody after making online threats against Mesquite ISD high schools, police say

A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody Tuesday after making threats on social media against multiple Mesquite ISD high schools, Mesquite police said in a news release Tuesday.

Police and district officials learned of the threats Monday, police said. The threats were “non-specific” and concerned “an event that would happen on September 14,” the release stated.

Police identified the teen as a suspect on Tuesday, the release stated. He is accused of felony false alarm or report, police said.

“As always, the safety and security of our MISD students and staff is a top priority, and we will continue to work diligently in conjunction with MISD to keep our school campuses safe.” the release stated.

District officials did not immediately return a request for comment.
