Navy’s SSG participates in Colombo drill

KARACHI: The 11th edition of the multinational tri-service mega field training exercise — Exercise Cormorant Strike 2021 — concluded in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Friday.

According to information received here, the Pakistan Navy’s Special Service Group (SSG) participated in the exercise conducted under the auspices of the Sri Lankan Army at Infantry Training Center, Minneriya.

Earlier, Exercise Director, Commander of Reserve Strike Corps, Maj Gen Hare­ndra Ranasinghe, welcomed the Special Operations Forces (SOF) from Bangladesh, India, Maldives and Nepal, among others.

The exercise was exclusively designed to exchange professional expertise in the SOF domain. The aim of the exercise was to build synergy, strengthen military relationships and enhance interoperability among the SOFs of participating countries.

The multinational exercise’s focused operations inclu­ded anti-terrorism opera­tions, disaster relief reconnaissance missions, riverine operations and counter-terrorism in maritime domain.

The professional experience gained during the exercise will be rewarding in conduct of joint operations against common threats and will augment cooperation among the participating countries.
