Alvi hails collaboration with Malaysia in vehicle production

KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi has said it is a matter of pride that Pakistan is collaborating with Malaysia to produce top quality vehicles in the country.

The president expressed these views at a ceremony held to inaugurate the Al-Haj Automotive Assembly Plant of Proton SAGA here on Wednesday.

Dr Alvi said Pakistan was on the path of development as trade was booming due to peace in the country and manufacturing of vehicles locally was an encouraging step.

“Our economy suffered a lot because of terrorism,” Dr Alvi said, adding that Afghanistan needed rebuilding and reconstruction and it would be the shortest way for Pakistan to trade with Central Asian countries.

Recognising the potential of the youth in the country, the president said that in order to harness potential of the youth, it was necessary for the youth to adapt to requirements of the modern age.

He said that principles were given the top priority in global relations and by adhering to high moral values and principles, “we could ensure success of our brand in the world”.

Referring to Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Alvi said that effective strategy of the government against coronavirus led to control of the pandemic in the country besides providing social protection to weaker sections of society. The world appreciated Pakistan’s strategy against the pandemic, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Khair-ul Nazran, said that Malaysia and Pakistan had been enjoying cordial and brotherly relations since 1957.
