Windy with near-record warmth Sunday

Our stretch of warm fall weather continues in North Texas. Morning clouds will give way to increasing sunshine as it turns windy Sunday afternoon. South winds of 15 to 25 mph, with a few gusts in excess of 30 mph are expected through mid-afternoon. A weak cold front will move into the area Sunday night, increasing the potential for a few isolated storms mainly east and northeast of DFW.

It will remain dry and very warm to kick off the work week. Afternoon highs will be in near-record territory again on Monday. Low level moisture will start returning to the area Monday night into Tuesday.

After a dry start to the week, better rain chances will come Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Widespread showers and thunderstorms will be possible along a cold front. The threat for severe weather will be highest west of DFW, but you’ll want to stay weather aware Wednesday.

The front will leave behind windy conditions Thursday and Friday. Wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible Thursday afternoon.
