Man dies after shooting in Mesquite neighborhood, police say

A man died after being shot in Mesquite on Wednesday night, police said.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the 2000 block of Cantura Drive, near Smith Elementary School. They found a man lying on the ground who had been shot several times.

The victim, whom police did not identify, died at a hospital.

Police did not release information about what led to the shooting or whether a suspect has been identified.
