Police searching for suspect in fatal downtown Dallas shooting

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who they say was involved in a fatal shooting in downtown Dallas on Friday evening.

Dallas and DART police were called just before 5:30 p.m. to the scene of a shooting in the 400 block of North Lamar Street, near Ross Avenue.

Jabari Griffin, 21, had been shot and was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Authorities said the gunman ran away and remains at large. Police identified him as 20-year-old Dezra Walker-Johnson; they did not provide a detailed suspect description.

Anyone with information about Walker-Johnson’s whereabouts may contact Detective Josue Rodriguez at 214-701-8453 or josue.rodriguez@dallascityhall.com and refer to case No. 196657-2021.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. Tips can be submitted by calling 214-373-8477.

Dallas County court records show that Walker-Johnson is serving five years of deferred-adjudication probation after pleading guilty in March to three counts of robbery.
