1 killed, 3 injured in crash involving rideshare vehicle, Arlington police say

A passenger in a rideshare vehicle was killed and three people were injured after a car ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle Sunday morning, according to Arlington police.

Arlington police were dispatched about 2:30 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Collins Street and the Interstate 30 frontage road. Investigators said the driver of a Hyundai Sonata ran a red light and struck a Honda HRV headed west along the service road.

A 37-year-old male passenger in the Honda HRV, which was being used for a rideshare service, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not identified the man.

A second passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. The driver, who was providing the rideshare, had minor injures.

Investigators said the driver of the Hyundai Sonata, 50-year-old Bernida Collins, was intoxicated when she collided with the Honda HRV.

Collins was also injured and taken to a hospital. She faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, police said.

No additional information about the crash was immediately available.
