18-year-old found dead in Plano neighborhood hours after gunfire reported in the area

An 18-year-old was found dead in a Plano neighborhood Tuesday morning, hours after gunfire was reported in the area, police said.

Plano police were called about midnight to the 800 block of Warwick Drive, near Alma Drive and West Spring Creek Parkway, for a weapons call. When officers got there, people were seen running away from the area.

Police said officers found evidence that there had been gunfire.

Around 7 a.m. Tuesday, a body was found in the 800 block of Arbor Downs Drive, one block north of the midnight call.

Police identified the victim as Plano resident Malakai McAfee.

No other details about the shooting were made available. Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
