Plano cleaning up raw sewage leak caused by storm damage

About 100,000 or more gallons of raw sewage is expected to flow into White Rock Creek after an 18-inch aerial sewage line crossing was damaged during a severe storm, the city of Plano announced.

A large tree was damaged during the storm before 7 a.m. and fell on the sewage line east of 5501 Parker Road., according to the city.

City crews have worked to plug the line and establish bypass pumping. They are also assessing the creek to verify no adverse effects to water or aquatic life are evident.

The domestic wastewater leak has not impacted the public drinking water supply, which is still safe for consumption, the city stated.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has also been notified about the spill.
