6 charged with murder in shooting death of 18-year-old man in Plano last week, police say

Six people — including one juvenile — are facing murder charges in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in Plano last week, according to police.

Around 12 a.m. Nov. 9, officers were dispatched to a neighborhood in the 800 block of Warwick Drive, near Alma Drive and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, where they found evidence of gunfire and people fleeing on foot, police said.

The body Malakai McAfee was found around 7 that morning in the 800 block of Arbor Downs Drive, one block north of the original shooting call.

Police on Monday did not specify what may have led to the shooting.

Bradon Awah Nangah, 19, and Larry Donnell Smith, 17, were already in the Dallas County jail when they were identified as suspects in the Plano shooting, police said. Both remained there Monday, with a hold order out of Collin County and a $500,000 bail amount placed on each for the murder count. Each also faces an aggravated robbery charge out of Dallas County, with bail on that count at $250,000 for Nangah and $150,000 for Smith.

Davante Amon Polk, 19; Alvin Lee Kirk Jr., 20; and Imani Hawley, 19, were arrested in the slaying on Friday, police said. Each was in the Tarrant County Corrections Center on Monday in lieu of $400,000 bail on a murder charge, police said. All three also face a handful of lesser counts.

Also charged with murder was 18-year-old Sonja Katerina Bohanon, She was arrested Saturday and remained in the Collin County Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail Monday, police said.

Bohanon’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Information about legal representation for the other suspects wasn’t clear.
