Cold front moves into Texas Wednesday, reaches Houston Thursday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another warm day is coming up on Wednesday with temperatures starting off in the mid 60s and topping out in the low 80s. The sky will start off mostly cloudy in the morning then turn partly cloudy in the afternoon. It will stay breezy with south winds up to 20 mph.

Changes come Thursday though as our next cold front moves through. This will drag in cooler and drier air for the end of the work week. Two more fronts are penciled in for the following week.

What can expect with the first cold front?
The cold front arriving before sunrise Thursday morning will bring temperatures down to near normal or below normal through Saturday. We are expecting highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s behind the front. Our average high at this time of year is low 70s with average lows in the low 50s. There is a 30% chance of showers along and behind the front, but no serious storm are expected.

When can we expect the other two fronts?
The second front will arrive early Monday morning, and the third front is penciled in for Thanksgiving Day.

So will it be cold for Thanksgiving Day?

It’s too soon to pin down the timing of the cold front expected for Thanksgiving Day, and the timing of the front could shift forward or backward by one day. Ahead of the front it will be very mild and humid, but once the front blows in, it is should feel festively cool outside. It is also looking more likely that the weather system pushing this front could bring widespread showers and thunderstorms on and around Thanksgiving Day. We will surely keep you updated as the holiday draws near.
