Colleyville’s active COVID-19 cases continue to decline, plus Tarrant County’s numbers

Colleyville has documented 3,785 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 21 deaths among residents, according to the Tarrant County website.

As of Thursday, Colleyville has 93 active cases, and the county has 11,367.

Federal regulators cleared the final regulatory hurdle Nov. 2 in approving pediatric COVID-19 shots, giving the OK for thousands of North Texas children to be protected from the novel coronavirus.

Tens of millions of Americans who work at companies with 100 or more employees will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jan. 4 or get tested for the virus weekly under government rules that took effect Nov. 4, the Associated Press reported.

Vaccines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus opened on March 29 to all adults. The Department of State Health Services has posted information about when and where Texas residents can get a vaccine, with vaccines for young children likely to be approved soon.

In May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 didn’t need to wear protective face masks or social distance at gatherings of any size. However, the CDC changed course on its masking guidelines on July 28, recommending face coverings even for vaccinated people in parts of the country where coronavirus is surging — such as North Texas.
