Grapevine nears 100 deaths from COVID-19. What you need to know about the coronavirus

Grapevine has documented a total of 7,265 cases of the coronavirus, 91 deaths and 6,923 recoveries among residents, according to the Tarrant County website.

As of Thursday, Grapevine has 321 active cases and Tarrant County has 11,367 active cases.

Federal regulators cleared the final regulatory hurdle Nov. 2 in approving pediatric COVID-19 shots, giving the OK for thousands of North Texas children to be protected from the novel coronavirus.

Tens of millions of Americans who work at companies with 100 or more employees will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jan. 4 or get tested for the virus weekly under government rules that took effect Nov. 4, the Associated Press reported.

Vaccines against the coronavirus became available on March 29 to all adults. The Department of State Health Services has posted information about when and where Texas residents can get a vaccine, with vaccines for young kids likely to approved soon.

In May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 didn’t need to wear protective face masks or social distance at gatherings of any size. However, the CDC changed course on its masking guidelines on July 28, recommending face coverings even for vaccinated people in parts of the country where coronavirus is surging — such as North Texas.
