Man found shot inside flipped car in Garland identified

Garland police have identified a man found shot inside a flipped over car in Garland as 20-year-old Iram Alejandro Sanchez Velazquez of Dallas.

The department is investigating the death, which took place early Wednesday morning, as a murder, according to a news release.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 17, Garland police and fire personnel responded to a vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Rosewood Hills Drive. When they arrived, officers and paramedics saw a white Nissan Altima flipped over with Velazquez inside, who was unconscious.

After they removed him from the car, they saw that he had been shot, according to police. Velazquez was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the death as a murder.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840.
