HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It was a very pleasant Christmas day with warm temperatures and partly sunny skies. Overnight, we could see some patchy, dense fog form. That fog should burn off by mid morning Sunday and then we’ll see partly sunny skies through the afternoon.
Just how warm will it get Christmas weekend?
Sunday will be another warm one with highs in the low 80s. The record high for Sunday is 84 set back in 2016.
How long will this wave of warmth last?
A big heat ridge will build in and stick around all the way through at least next Wednesday when a cool front moves in. Our high temps could challenge records through next week. We could see a cold front arrive early in 2022 to bring a us a bit of a cool down.
Is there any rainy weather in sight?
We’re going to have to wait for it. That same high pressure ridge will keep us dry through the weekend and into the start of the work week. Just enough moisture will make it in between Tuesday and Friday next week for a few showers. And if our models are right, we might be ringing in the new year with thunderstorms.
