Frosty start, warmup on the way

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s a cold and frosty start this morning, with temps in the 30s area-wide and a light freeze for some along and north of I-10.

Thankfully what starts off as a cold day will yield a beautiful afternoon, as sunshine and a south breeze will warm temperatures up nicely into the mid 60s.

How long will the cold stick around?
This morning is pretty much the end of our cold snap. By Wednesday afternoon we’ll see high temps back in the mid 70s, but another cold front is in the forecast for Thursday, Jan. 6. This one won’t be quite as strong or cold as the front that moved through this past weekend, but a light freeze will be possible north of I-10.

What is the outlook for the weekend?
An upper air disturbance will combine with warm, humid air from the Gulf to bring chances for showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday. You can expect a chilly start to Saturday before the warm air rushes in. Highs will be in the 70s both days with lows in the 40s Saturday and lows in the 60s Sunday.
