Colleyville’s active COVID-19 cases increase, plus Tarrant County’s numbers

Colleyville has documented 4,249 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 23 deaths among residents, according to the Tarrant County website.

As of Thursday, Colleyville has 375 active cases, and the county has 37,230.

The omicron variant of the coronavirus has recently spurred a surge in cases across Texas.

The omicron variant, first detected in South Africa, appears to have more than 30 mutations in the coronavirus’ spike protein, which could affect how easily it spreads to people. U.S. health officials are urging unvaccinated Americans to get their shots and eligible adults to get booster shots.

Vaccines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus opened on March 29 to all adults. The Department of State Health Services has posted information about when and where Texas residents can get a vaccine, with vaccines for young kids approved as well.
