Severe thunderstorms and street flooding possible overnight

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A couple of small, brief tornadoes touched down in southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, and a few more are possible overnight.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Harris County until 3 a.m. and until 2:15 a.m. for Liberty and Polk counties.

Brief tornadoes are possible in rotating, heavy thunderstorms that could also cause street flooding overnight.

Small hail and wind gusts to 40 mph are also possible in the strongest storms as they move northeast. More rain is possible Sunday morning as we await the arrival of a cold front. Heavy rain will be the biggest concern with any storms that develop on Sunday.

What’s my chance of getting wet Sunday?
Rain chances are at 60% in the morning, then will drop to less than 20% during the afternoon as the cold front blows in.

How cold will it get behind Sunday’s front?
It should cool off into the 50s Sunday evening then into the 30s and 40s Monday morning. Tuesday morning will be our coldest from this front with widespread lows in the 30s.

What is the weather outlook for the Chevron Houston Marathon?
Right now it looks like a runner’s delight! It will be chilly at the start of the race with lows in the 40s. Afternoon highs will warm into the 50s, and there’s only a 20% chance of light shower.
