Arlington police investigating shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

Arlington police are investigating a shooting in a bar parking lot that left one man dead early Sunday.

At about 12:30 a.m., two officers who were finishing an unrelated call near the intersection of Great Southwest Parkway and Division Street heard gunshots in a nearby parking lot.

When they arrived, the officers found a 33-year-old man who had been fatally shot. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office will identify the victim after family has been notified, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the man was involved in an altercation with a group at the bar. The man went to his vehicle to get a handgun, and then walked back to the bar and began shooting, witnesses told police.

Someone in the crowd returned fire, killing the man, police said. An investigation is ongoing to determine the shooter’s identity.

Another man who was in the parking lot suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting, police said. He was taken to a local hospital and has since been released.

Anyone with information about this incident may contact Detective Phillip Williams at 817-459-5312. Anonymous tips may be submitted at Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
