3 Georgia men arrested in connection with death of security guard beaten at Mesquite gym

Three Georgia men were arrested Friday in connection with the death of a security guard who was assaulted at a Mesquite gym last weekend.

Cameron Alexander Walton, 26, Darius Antwann Williams, 26, and Xzaviour Maurice Williams, 20, each face a charge of murder in the death of 43-year-old Patrick Prejean, police said. It’s unclear whether they have attorneys.

Officers were called the afternoon of Jan. 22 to the Fitness Connection in the 2000 block of Town East Boulevard, near LBJ Freeway, where they found Prejean unresponsive on the floor. Witnesses said he had been attacked by several men.

Prejean was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police previously said they were aware of a video of the incident circulating online that showed a group of men beating Prejean, then walking away.

All three suspects are from Augusta, Ga., police said. Walton and Xzaviour Williams were in custody Saturday in the Richmond County jail; Darius Williams was being held in the Mesquite jail.
