Winter storm closures: What’s closing in North Texas

City and county governments and hospitals are issuing notices of closures starting Thursday. Here is a current list of closuers due to the winter storm.

Dallas County

Dallas County offices and courts

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins tweeted that county offices and courts are closed for in-person operations Thursday and Friday. People with jury summons for Feb. 3 and 4 or are currently on a jury do not need to report.

Dallas

City of Dallas recreation centers will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. They are being used as warming stations when open.

The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority will not run the trolley Thursday morning. Service suspended until further notice.

Parkland clinics

Parkland Health announced the closure of all clinics on Thursday and Friday. The hospital system’s COVID-19 testing center at the Amelia Court Clinic, located at 1936 Amelia Court, Dallas, will also be closed Thursday and Friday. Parkland will contact patients with appointments on Thursday and Friday to reschedule. Parkland asks that patients not contact the hospital system about rescheduling appointments.

Parkland’s clinics that will close include:

Community oriented primary care health centers (COPCs)

Acute response clinics (ARCs)

Women’s health centers

Youth and family clinics

Moody Outpatient Center clinics

Hospital-based outpatient specialty clinics

Ron J. Anderson, M.D., clinics

Homeless outreach locations (HOMES)

Comprehensive Breast Center

Maternal fetal medicine clinic

Although the Ron J. Anderson, M.D., clinics will be closed Thursday and Friday, the pharmacy inside the Ron J. Anderson, M.D., building, located at 5184 Tex Oak Ave., Dallas, will remain open for service.

On Saturday, Parkland will close its two vaccination clinics at the following locations:

Second dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School, 7800 Umphress Road, Dallas, and

COVID-19 vaccination and flu drive at Shiloh Church, 4702 Saturn Road, Garland.

Baylor Scott & White clinics

Baylor Scott & White clinics and outpatient centers will modify schedules Thursday and Friday, the hospital system said in a statement. Hospitals will remain open.

Patients with upcoming appointments are encouraged to call their provider’s office or reach out using MyBSWHealth to confirm appointment details. Virtual options will remain available, including same-day care for many common conditions, the hospital system said.

Children’s Health clinics

All Children’s Health clinics in Dallas and Plano will close Thursday and Friday. If your child has an appointment on those days, their care team may reach out to you about converting the appointment to a virtual visit, the hospital system said. Otherwise, Children’s Health will contact you to reschedule the appointment.

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

All UT Southwestern medical practices – including outpatient clinics, regional medical centers and COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites – will close Thursday. Patients will be contacted via MyChart for appointment rescheduling options.

The UT Southwestern William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital and emergency room will remain open.

Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo said in a tweet that it would be closed Thursday and Friday due to the weather. Plans for Friday have not been decided yet, the zoo said.

Courts

The Dallas Immigration Court will be closed Thursday. The alternate filing location the Pearsall Immigration Court at 566 Veterans Dr. in Pearsall, Texas.

Texas DPS offices

Several DPS offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be closed Thursday, including the Dallas South Mega Center, the Carrollton Mega Center and the Fort Worth Mega Center. A full list of affected DPS offices can be found online.

Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden will be closed Thursday and Friday.

DeSoto

All city facilities in DeSoto will be closed Thursday, officials said. Trash collection is suspended for the remainder of the week.

Garland

Garland offices and public-facing facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday. Trash and recycling pickup will be suspended Friday and is expected to resume Saturday depending on the road conditions.

Irving

The city of Irving said in a tweet that all non-essential city offices and facilities would be closed Feb. 3 and 4. Trash, recycling and brush pickup are all cancelled and will pick up again Monday.

Collin County

Collin County government buildings will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4.

Plano

The city of Plano said in a tweet all recreation facilities and public library locations are closed on Thursday.

Denton County

Frisco

Garbage collection in Frisco is cancelled for the rest of the week, the city said. The Frisco Athletic Center, The Grove, the Frisco Discovery Center and Frisco Heritage Museum are all closed Thursday and Friday.

Tarrant County

Cook Children’s clinics

Many of Cook Children’s primary care and specialty clinics will close Thursday, the pediatric health system announced. The full list of closures can be found here. There are currently no urgent care clinic closures.

Arlington

In Arlington, nonessential city buildings including city hall, the municipal office tower, the municipal court, the park administration building, libraries, parks, recreation centers, water utilities south service center and Arlington Animal Services will all be closed Feb. 3 and 4. The Arlington Fire Department’s COVID-19 vaccination site at its public health unit is also closed Thursday and Friday, and trash/recycling curbside collection services are suspending service.

Euless

All non-emergency city facilities will be closed Thursday. The city has not made a decision about Friday.

Fort Worth

Courts

The Fort Worth Immigration Adjudication Center will be closed Thursday. The alternate filing location the Pearsall Immigration Court at 566 Veterans Dr. in Pearsall, Texas.

Fort Worth Public Library

All branches are closed on Thursday.

Grapevine

All city facilities in Grapevine will be closed Friday.

Hurst

Garbage collection in Hurst is cancelled for the rest of the week, the city said on Twitter. Pickup will begin again on Monday.

Keller

All city facilities are closed on Thursday.
