Kidnapped 11-month-old girl from Fort Worth found safe in New Mexico

The Amber Alert for an 11-month-old girl kidnapped in Fort Worth was canceled Friday afternoon after she was found safe in New Mexico, police say.

Harmony Rodriguez was taken in the 13500 block of Little River Road, near Alta Vista Road, around 9:40 p.m. Thursday. Police announced she was found about 12:30 p.m. Friday in New Mexico, but police did not specify where or what led investigators there.

Harmony was kidnapped by her non-custodial father, 26-year-old Lancelot Dawkins, who police said was taken into custody Friday and will “face numerous charges from the Fort Worth Police Department for his actions.”

Dawkins has “violent criminal histories — including various family violence-related crimes — in five states,” Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson said in a news release.

Last month, Dawkins bonded out of jail on a charge of assaulting a family member by impeding breath or circulation, she said. After his release, Dawkins fled Texas, and was believed to be headed to Nevada, when his bondsman reported Dawkins could not be contacted and asked that his bond be held insufficient, Wilson said.

An arrest warrant was issued Jan. 31, and Dawkins was arrested and booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday, according to Wilson.

Noakes said Dawkins had just been released Thursday from the Tarrant County jail on a domestic violence charge after posting a $3,500 bond when Harmony was kidnapped. Details about that case weren’t immediately available.
