Large grass fire in East Fort Worth extinguished, officials say

Officials had extinguished a large grass fire in East Fort Worth by around 8 p.m. Saturday, the city’s fire department said.

The blaze occurred along the railroad tracks near the 4700 block of Hampshire Boulevard, the department tweeted about 2:30 p.m. The fire didn’t pose a threat or damage any structures, the department said.

White smoke coming from near Old Handley and South Tierney roads could be seen Saturday afternoon. Police previously had asked people to avoid the area.
