Motorcyclist dies after crashing into two cars in different lanes on Highway 6

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A motorcycle accident has left one person dead and all north and southbound lanes closed on Highway 6 Thursday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office

The crash happened around 10 a.m. Thursday on Alief Codine.

According to witnesses, the motorcyclist , later identified as An Nguyen was traveling at a high rate of speed when he switched over into the left lane, hitting the back of an Acura.

Nguyen lost control of the motorcycle and hit the center median that splits the north and southbound traffic lanes. He continued to travel towards and entered the northbound lane where he struck a Dodge Charger’s front end.

Nguyen was ejected from the motorcycle and it came to a stall in the left lane of the northbound traffic lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Community EMS around 10:20 a.m.

In order to investigate, deputies had to shut down both north and southbound lanes for hours. All lanes of Highway 6 have since reopened.

The drivers of the Acura and the Dodge were not injured and showed no signs of intoxication.

The case remains open and is being investigated by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Divison.
