Southwest Airlines flights delayed, canceled at Dallas Love Field, across country due to tech issues

Flights were delayed or even canceled Saturday morning, including out of Dallas Love Field, as Southwest Airlines reported technology issues.

“Some of our earliest departing flights were delayed this morning, and a handful of them canceled, after we experienced intermittent technology issues that occurred during routine overnight maintenance,” the airline said in a statement, adding that the tech problems had been resolved.

According to tracking service FlightAware, more than 1,200 Southwest flights — 38% of all scheduled flights — were delayed nationwide as of 3 p.m. About 300 — or 9% — were canceled.

Of those, 123 of the delayed flights were to or from Love Field, and 19 were canceled, according to FlightAware.

The airline clarified that the delays were “not entirely tied to this pre-dawn tech issue, but some really nasty conditions in Florida with respect to air traffic control delays due to storms.”

Southwest said it would notify passengers who might be affected by the delays.

“We offer heartfelt apologies to our customers for any inconvenience, and gratitude to our employees who are working diligently to make it up to them,” the airline said in the statement.
