Ex-Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hussain passes away

LAHORE: Former Pakistan Test all-rounder Mohammad Hussain died of illness here on Monday. He was 45.

The Lahore-born Hussain was suffering from liver and kidney problems and was on dialysis. On Monday, he was getting ready to undergo dialysis.

Left-handed Hussain played two Tests and 14 One-day Internationals from 1996 to 1998. After making Test debut in 1996 against Zimbabwe in Faisalabad, the player in his short career played his last Test in 1998 against Australia in Rawalpindi.

In Tests, Hussain, a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, snared three wickets while claiming 13 scalps in 14 ODIs at an average of 42.07.

He played 131 first-class matches scoring 4,996 runs at 26.57 and took 454 wickets at an impressive 23.13. He featured in 92 List A matches scoring 1,390 runs besides grabbing 130 wickets.

Hussain left behind a widow, a son and a daughter.
