Brock ISD student, 6, fatally struck by school bus, authorities say

A 6-year-old Brock ISD student was killed when she was hit by a school bus Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. in the 400 block of Canyon Creek Circle in Parker County.

“The bus stopped and off-loaded several students,” Texas DPS Sgt. Richard Hunter said in an email. “As the bus began moving, one of the students, a six-year-old female, was struck by the bus and died at the scene.”

The school district said in a Facebook post that it was “deeply saddened” by the death. The girl wasn’t immediately identified.

“We are working through the accident with local law enforcement and school administrators, but our focus remains on the healing of one of our own at this time,” the district said. “Please join us by adding this student to your thoughts and prayers.”

The district said counselors and crisis-support professionals would be at schools tomorrow.

Brock is about 70 miles west of Dallas in Parker County.
