North Texas election results: City Council, mayor

Voters across North Texas went to the polls Saturday to elect school board trustees and city council candidates, as well as decide whether to approve two property tax amendments to the Texas Constitution.

These are the current vote totals for selected council and mayoral elections in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. More complete results will be available after all votes have been tallied.

Allen

Votes are tallied in Collin County, and Allen City Council incumbent Chris Schulmeister is poised to keep his seat. In Place 6, longtime community volunteer Ben Trahan is leading businessman Srini Raghavan, who is backed by conservative political action committee We The People Allen.

Arlington

Arlington is set to get two new city council members representing districts 6 and 8, as no incumbent is running for either seat. The vote tally isn’t final yet — and none of the candidates in the crowded district 6 race have more than 50% of the votes.

Colleyville is poised to get a new mayor, as the city’s current one is terming out of his post. The final votes aren’t tallied yet, but Bobby Lindamood is in the lead. He’s been on City Council since 2016. During his tenure, he’s received attention for sharing posts with hard-right views — some with false statements.

Votes aren’t fully tallied in Dallas County, but DeSoto looks like it’s going to keep its incumbents on the City Council. Both Mayor Rachel Proctor and council member Dinah Marks are ahead of their challengers as of midnight on May 8.

Election day votes weren’t fully tallied in Dallas County at 11:55 p.m. on May 7. Incumbent Deborah Morris is leading the race for her seat in district 2. Margaret A. Lucht and Jon Dehn are ahead of challenger Cle D. Kimble to fill the district 5 seat, as incumbent Rich Aubin has hit his term limit. Lucht and Dehn have piqued the interest from the Dallas Sierra Club and Cleanup Garland, a local environmental activism group active within the district 5 area.
