Good viewing conditions for Sunday night’s lunar eclipse

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another mild start with low temps in the 70s this morning. We’re also seeing some patchy morning fog, but it should burn off by mid morning leading to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures should top out in the low 90s with heat index values in the mid 90s.

Later on Sunday, we will be watching for a total lunar eclipse. The maximum eclipse should take place at 11:11 pm and luckily the skies are expected to be mostly clear!

What will the weather be like for the lunar eclipse on Sunday?
It looks like we’ll have a mostly clear sky with temperatures in the upper 70s as the eclipse begins around 9:30 p.m. The sky should remain mostly clear early into Monday morning, making for perfect conditions to view the entire eclipse!

When is our next chance for rain?
At this time it looks like we’ll have to wait until the following weekend. That means we have a hot, dry, drought-building work week ahead. The good news is that there’s a decent chance a front will get close enough next weekend to increase our rain chances beyond the 20%-30% we currently have the in forecast.
