1 killed, 1 injured in Old East Dallas drive-by shooting

A man was killed and another man was injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in Old East Dallas, police said.

Officers responded about 4:40 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Munger Avenue, near Hall Street, where a 25-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

The man, identified by police as Braylon Smith, was taken to a hospital and died, police said. Police said a 31-year-old man was also taken to a hospital and his injuries were believed to be not life threatening.

Police say gunfire came from a gray Nissan sedan as it drove through the complex, striking the two men, who were standing outside, as they tired to run away

Multiple apartments were hit by gunfire but no one inside was injured, police said.

No additional information about the slaying or possible suspects was available.
