19-year-old man fatally shot at Rylie event venue, Dallas police say

A 19-year-old man was fatally shot at a Rylie event venue early Saturday, Dallas police say.

About 1:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 9500 block of Timberloam Drive, near South Saint Augustine Road in southeast Dallas, where they found Uriel Alberto Enriquez lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Enriquez was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Video showed officers photographing the crime scene at Salcedo’s Ranch, an outdoor event venue. Beer cans, alcohol bottles and plastic cups were strewn across the ground and on tables. It was not clear what event the venue was hosting.

Police did not immediately return a request for comment on whether the event had a permit, or whether it needed one. Salcedo’s Ranch and the property’s owner also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

City ordinances intended to boost safety and hold promoters and venue operators accountable — including a fee and registration for “commercial promoters” who host such events — were proposed at a public-safety meeting last week after two events that did not have permits ended in mass gunfire.

On April 2, 16 people were injured and one was killed after a fight broke out and at least two men fired handguns into a crowd at an outdoor concert in southeast Oak Cliff. Two weeks before that, a shooting outside another event without a permit — a party at The Space Dallas venue in South Dallas — killed one person and wounded nine others.

“This, of course, can happen at any event,” Dallas police Chief Eddie García said last month. “But with a permit and proper promoter oversight, we can better be prepared for events and crowds.”

Anyone with information about the shooting may contact Detective Tonya McDaniel at 214-671-4236 or tonya.mcdaniel@dallascityhall.com and refer to case No. 090159-2022.
