HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — At least two more rounds of thunderstorms are coming for Southeast Texas over the next two days, and we’ve declared both Tuesday and Wednesday to be ABC13 Weather Alert Days to encourage you to stay weather aware.
Scattered showers during the morning commute will turn into big thunderstorms between 9 A.M. and 1 P.M.. Minor street flooding and isolated power outages are possible as the storms produce pockets of heavy rain, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph. An isolated severe thunderstorm capable of wind gusts over 60 mph and brief tornado cannot be ruled out. Most of us will pick up a quick inch of rain.
The main line should push away from Houston by the afternoon, but a few lingering showers and thunderstorms will be possible for the second half of the day. We will once again enjoy rain-cooled air with highs only in the low-to-mid 80s.
What can we expect for Wednesday?
We predict another round of thunderstorms will blow through during the morning, but there could also be a second round of storms in the afternoon as our next cool front blows in. Rainfall accumulations on Wednesday will generally be double what we get on Tuesday with most neighborhoods falling in the 1-3″ range.
What are we expecting for Memorial Day weekend?
