Our coolest morning in nearly a month

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — What a start! Temperatures this morning are in the 50s and low 60s for most of the area. Sunshine will rapidly warm the temperatures to near 90 in the afternoon, but it will feel great with the low humidity.

An Ozone Pollution Watch is in effect Thursday and Friday afternoons. The combination of light winds, sunshine, and warm temperatures will allow ozone to develop and collect in some Houston neighborhoods. Ozone is a lung irritant and can trigger asthma attacks in sensitive individuals. We’ll be monitoring the ozone sensors and wind flow for you both days.

What are we expecting for Memorial Day weekend?
The weather also looks gorgeous over the weekend with mostly sunny skies on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We’ll get to hold on to some of that dry air through Saturday morning, but you’ll notice the humidity levels increasing Sunday and Monday. Afternoon temperatures will be hot with highs in the low 90s.

When could we get more rain?
It’s going to be a long time before the rain returns. A heat ridge settling in overhead will keep it mostly dry over the next 10 days. The rain chance doesn’t climb back to 20% until next Friday, June 3rd.
