Record highs possible this weekend

A brief chance of thunderstorms up north near the Red River will move out early this morning. Left in the storm system’s wake will be some morning clouds. These clouds will move out by mid-morning, with sunny and hot conditions building by afternoon. Highs will climb into the upper 90s for most of North Texas with a heat index around 101-102.

A warm south to southwest wind, along with a strengthening upper level ridge, will ensure even hotter conditions as we head into the weekend. Triple digits are expected Saturday and Sunday. In fact, both days will be close to record highs of 103 (both days). Remember to take those heat precautions this weekend and don’t overdo it outside. Take breaks in the air conditioning and be sure to stay hydrated.

The hot weather will extend into next week as well with little hope for rain.
