Hot and mostly dry week with a slight chance for rain this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Unseasonably hot weather will continue through the work week with little hope for rain over the next several days.

Temperatures Monday morning will only drop to 80 degrees and then will rise back up into the upper 90s by Monday afternoon. Heat index values should top out between 102-105.

How long will the triple digit days stick around?
A stronger Gulf breeze that kicks in Monday should bring highs back down toward the mid 90s for most of next week. Toward the end of next week the heat ridge will build back overhead and push our highs back toward 100.

When is our next chance for rain?
The next chance for rain comes late weekend into Father’s day weekend as more Gulf moisture tries to sneak in from the southeast. Chances are slim though with only a 20% chance in the forecast.

Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
There is a little disturbance east of Central America but it has a low chance of development. Something that will hinder its development is the Saharan Dust which is currently draped across the Atlantic and Gulf. You can stay informed on everything happening in the tropics all season long with our daily tropical update.
