Hot and windy

Hot and windy weather is in store for North Texas today. Afternoon highs in the upper 90s will accompany a strong, gusty south wind over 30 mph. The sky will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny. The humidity will make it feel like 100-102. Some Saharan dust in the upper levels of the atmosphere will make the sky a bit hazy.

More hot weather is in store for Thursday and Friday with highs close to 100. However, the wind will be noticeably lighter by then. The weekend forecast looks hot and mainly dry. There’s a slight chance for an isolated thunderstorm Saturday, but most locations will stay dry. Highs on Sunday will be close to 100 for Father’s Day, so plan accordingly for any outdoor Father’s Day plans.

Make sure you drink plenty of water and don’t over exert yourself. If you have to do work outside, take frequent breaks. The best times to be outside will be early morning and late evening. Check on your elderly loved ones and neighbors. Please make sure your pets are brought inside, or at least have access to plenty of shade and fresh water.
