10,000-acre South Texas ranch for sale was home to Texas Senator Lloyd Bentsen

A South Texas ranch that just hit the market has deep Texas roots and totals almost 10,000 acres.

The Arrowhead Ranch is located near Edinburg in the Rio Grande Valley.

The 15-square-mile spread was owned for almost 50 years by the family of four-term Texas senator and U.S. secretary of treasury Lloyd Bentsen.

The current owners, Homer and Linda Gomez, developed the ranch as a hunting preserve for quail, deer and exotic animals.

Foster Farm & Ranch of Uvalde recently listed the Arrowhead Ranch for sale with a price tag of $29.75 million.

“We’re ready to head up north to the Hill Country,” Homer Gomez said in a statement. “Most of our extended family is in Austin and San Antonio, and after all we’ve done for Arrowhead, it’s time to be closer to the people who matter most to us.”

The South Texas ranch comes with a main house that has 9,500 square feet of space with five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. There is 5,000 square feet of outdoor space for entertaining surrounding the house.

The property also includes a historic lodge built in the 1930s that been fully restored with a commercial kitchen, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and an office.

There are also three smaller homes and a guesthouse on the property.

Arrowhead Ranch has a 6,000-square-foot barn, two smaller barns, RV sites, groundwater wells and dozens of ponds.

The ranch is served by a 5,000-foot private landing strip and airplane hangar.
