A hot weekend ahead of more widespread rain chances next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Temperatures will remain very hot this weekend. We will be looking at highs around 101 with virtually no rain to speak of. Much needed rain is looking more likely next week.

How hot are we talking this weekend?

We’ll see plenty of sunshine (especially Saturday) with a high temp around or a bit over 100 degrees and feels-like temps closer to 105. These numbers should keep us just below a heat advisory.
Are there any other chances for rain?
We should stay mostly dry on Saturday with a less than 10% chance of rain. The pattern is a bit more promising Sunday, but we’re still looking at fairly minimal rain chances and rainfall totals through the weekend. The latest data is calling for a much better chance for rain and even cooler temps next week as moisture moves around the area of high pressure and into SE Texas. Monday and Tuesday’s chance has been increased to 60%.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
A tropical wave coming off Africa has a 60% chance of development over the next 5 days, plus a new potential system is being watched off the Texas Gulf Coast. You can stay informed on everything happening in the tropics all season long with our daily tropical update.
