A hot weekend ahead of more widespread rain chances next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The heat continues as we head into Sunday but moisture will also start to move back in by the afternoon. With the extra moisture, we could see an increase in clouds and also a slight chance for rain. Rain chances increase Monday as a cool front moves into the area.

How hot will it get Sunday?

Temperatures are expected to near or go just above 100. We should stay below record values.

How do our rain chances look this week?
They look much better than what we’ve been seeing over the past couple of weeks! A weak front will move in Monday bringing back up rain chances. Scattered showers and storms are expected. This chance for scattered rain will continue through much of the week as more moisture gets pushed our way and as disturbances move through.

Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
A tropical wave coming off Africa has a 60% chance of development over the next 5 days, plus a new potential system is being watched off the Texas Gulf Coast. This system just off the coast has a low chance of development but is expected to send moisture our way this week helping with our rain chances. You can stay informed on everything happening in the tropics all season long with our daily tropical update.
