NBC 5 Weather Experts: A Steamy Holiday Weekend Ahead

July will start off with an increase in the humidity across North Texas. Friday high temperatures will be in the mid-90s with a heat index of around 100.

There’s a slight chance for spotty thunderstorms on Saturday, but the higher chances will be to the southeast as a disturbance moves up from the Gulf of Mexico. Keep in mind that any storms that pop up will produce lightning, gusty winds and brief downpours. If you’re going to be spending time outside this weekend, keep an eye on the sky.

The Fourth of July will be hot and dry with highs around 100. Triple-digit heat will be with us all of next week.
