Hot with a few spotty thunderstorms

The holiday weekend will feature typical Texas Fourth of July weather: some heat and humidity along with a chance of spotty storms. High temperatures will be mostly in the upper 90s with a heat index of 100 to 102.

Spotty thunderstorms developed Saturday afternoon as a tropical disturbance moved north from the Gulf of Mexico through east Texas and Louisiana. Keep in mind that any storms that pop up will produce lightning, gusty winds and brief downpours. If you’re going to be spending time outside this weekend, keep an eye on the sky. But they should all dissipate around sundown, if not sooner.

Sunday will be much the same, with hot weather and another chance for isolated thunderstorms. But after that, the rain chances will drop from slim to none.

The Fourth of July will be hot and dry with highs around 100. And that triple-digit heat will be with us all of next week.
