Dallas man who sold teenager as a sex slave sentenced to 15 years in federal prison

A Dallas man who sold a 19-year-old woman as a sex slave was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in federal prison, court records show.

Alfonso Orozco Juarez, 36, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking in March as part of a plea agreement. In addition to the prison term, Juarez must serve five years of supervised release and pay more than $9,000 in restitution.

His attorney, Ezekiel Tyson, said he was “very pleased” with the outcome of the case, adding he believes the sentence was “just and not overly harsh.”

”Mr. Juarez is deeply remorseful for the way his relationship with the victim turned out,” Tyson said. “He is committed to changing his lifestyle and devoting his focus to his family.”

According to authorities, Juarez met the woman, who lived in New Mexico, on social media in summer 2019. The woman was visiting her boyfriend in Dallas, and Juarez came to her motel room asking if she wanted to make some money. The woman said Juarez gave her methamphetamine and was physically abusive.

Juarez paid for her to fly back to Dallas several times and paid her with money and drugs to perform sex acts, authorities said. The woman said she returned for the drugs and because Juarez threatened her and her family.

In September 2019, Juarez offered to sell the woman as a sex slave on social media. The same day, Robert Gene Hubert, a 67-year-old South Carolina resident, offered to buy her for $5,000, according to authorities. Juarez also sent several nude photos of the woman to Hubert.

The men met at a Dallas gas station, where Hubert paid $5,000 cash for the woman.

The woman said Hubert put a metal collar on her neck and said he wanted to brand her buttocks. His home had a dungeon, where she and another woman there were required to be naked at all times, according to court documents.

The woman was able to call her parents at one point, and eventually returned to New Mexico.

Hubert pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking in February, court records show, and was sentenced in May to 10 years and one month in federal prison.
