OnlyFans model told police she wasn’t sure if fatal stabbing of boyfriend was justified

An OnlyFans model who was arrested in connection with the slaying of her North Texas-native boyfriend in Florida told Miami police she wasn’t sure if the stabbing was justified, police allege in an arrest-warrant affidavit.

Courtney Taylor Clenney, 26, was arrested Wednesday in Hawaii on a charge of second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Christian Obumseli. Authorities said she will be extradited to Miami-Dade County, where the stabbing death occurred.

Clenney’s attorney, Frank Prieto, told the Miami Herald Wednesday that Clenney acted in self-defense and he was “shocked” by her arrest.

“We look forward to clearing her name in court,” he said.

On the evening of April 3, Miami police were called to One Paraiso Residences, a luxury condominium building, and found Clenney cradling Obumseli inside their apartment, the affidavit states.

Obumseli had a stab wound to the chest and was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The day of the stabbing “began peacefully,” with Clenney and Obumseli playing with their dogs in their apartment, police wrote in the affidavit.

Around 1:15 p.m., Obumseli left with the dogs to get Subway for the couple. He returned around 4:30 p.m., police wrote in the affidavit.

Clenney, an OnlyFans model and social-media influencer who uses a different name online and has millions of followers, recorded and uploaded an Instagram live video to her page while he was gone. Records show Clenney called Obumseli just before filming the video and again just before he arrived back at the apartment, the affidavit states.

During an interview with police, Clenney’s mother said she was on the phone with her daughter during the stabbing, which occurred sometime between 4:43 p.m. and 4:56 p.m., according to the affidavit.

Clenney’s mother said she heard her daughter calling Obumseli a liar and yelling at him to leave the apartment.

Clenney called 911 at 4:57 p.m., police wrote in the document.

During the 911 call, Obumseli was heard in the background saying that he was dying and couldn’t feel his arm. Clenney was heard saying, “I’m so sorry baby,” police allege.

Clenney’s mother texted her daughter 30 minutes later, mentioned self-defense and advised her not to speak to police without an attorney, the affidavit states.

In an interview with police, Clenney gave conflicting accounts of the circumstances around the attack. She said Obumseli was physically violent with her and that she threw the knife at him from more than 10 feet away in self defense, according to the affidavit.

Clenney’s body did not have any signs of injury after the stabbing. The county’s medical examiner determined that throwing a knife from that distance would not cause the fatal wound Obumseli suffered, the affidavit states.

Clenney eventually told police, “I don’t know. I really don’t know if this was justified at all,” according to the affidavit.

‘Tempestuous relationship’

Police wrote in the affidavit that their investigation revealed the couple had a “tempestuous relationship” that began in November 2020.

There are multiple documented incidents of Clenney being physically violent with Obumseli, including Clenney’s arrest on a domestic battery charge in July 2021 in Las Vegas after she attacked him in a hotel room, the affidavit states.

Incidents of domestic violence began “almost immediately” after the couple moved to the Miami apartment in January, according to the affidavit.

At One Paraiso, there were so many documented incidents, including one case when tenants two floors above could hear Clenney and Obumseli arguing, that management was planning to take legal action to evict the couple, the affidavit states.

The Office of the State Attorney in Florida released a one-minute video Thursday of an incident between the couple in an elevator at One Paraiso in February.

Around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Clenney is seen getting into the elevator and aggressively hits the touch-screen where residents select a floor. Obumseli gets in after her and motions for her to stop. Clenney is seen hitting Obumseli multiple times.

Obumseli pushes Clenney away and makes a selection on the screen. Clenney is seen pulling at his T-shirt, hair and repeatedly hitting him.

Obumseli holds up his arms to block Clenney as she continues to hit him. The two appear to be arguing, and Obumseli pushes Clenney away multiple times.

Obumseli exits the elevator and Clenney follows, still hitting Obumseli.

Police noted in the affidavit that the events were “certainly not one sided,” but did not elaborate.

The domestic disputes caused the couple to split up multiple times, most recently in March. Clenney and Obumseli rekindled their relationship April 1, and he moved back into the unit, according to the affidavit.

Clenney made a police report the same evening, and she “appeared intoxicated” when police responded, according to the affidavit.

Her attorney told the Miami Herald that she had been in Hawaii in a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

A ‘radiant personality’

Obumseli, who went by the nickname “Toby,” was born in Dallas and attended Plano East Senior High School.

He earned a football scholarship to Abilene Christian University and later transferred to Texas Tech University to study engineering, his obituary said.

In his obituary, Obumseli is described as a radiant personality and “a free spirit with larger than life dreams.”

“His fun-loving attitude allowed him to be comfortable in almost any atmosphere,” the obituary reads. “Toby was known for his caring and giving nature, which made people want to be around him as often as possible.”
