Man dead after running stop sign and crashing into wall along Hardy Toll Road, deputies say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — One man is dead after he ran a stop sign and crashed into a wall along the Hardy Toll Road, deputies said.

On Saturday, at about 9:30 p.m., Jose Jesus Flores Ortiz, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado, was reportedly was driving eastbound in the 1200 block of Hill Road.

Ortiz then ran the stop sign at the intersection of West Hardy Road, and continued eastbound on Hill Road, officials said.

He then failed to control his speed and struck a wooden barricade indicating the dead-end of Hill Road.

Ortiz continued traveling eastbound and struck a concrete wall on the west edge of the Hardy Toll Road with the front end of his vehicle, officials said.

Investigators said Ortiz was found dead due to the impact when they arrived.

According to deputies, no passengers were in the Silverado truck.
