2 people shot in West Houston near Memorial area, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Officers with the Houston Police Department said they responded to a shooting where two people were injured Saturday afternoon.

At about 3:24 p.m., officials reported to the shooting in the 1100 block of Shadowdale Drive.

One man was taken to the hospital, and another was treated at the scene, HPD said.

A man on the scene said he’s the father of one of the shooters.

He said his son met someone at Southern Pines Apartments who tried to rob him. Then his son shot the suspect several times.

The father said his son was shot in the hand and is doing OK.

A neighbor told he heard about seven to eight gunshots but didn’t think anything of it until they saw officers and crime scene tape outside.

He explained how he felt about the shooting.

“I’ve never wished death on nobody, but people put themselves in situations they know is wrong. When it comes down to it, I would rather have the person that is the victim protect themselves than for the victim to be fatally shot, wounded, or killed,” Ivan Valenzuela said.
